About the Event

In 2010, Leslie Peterson, a local Mom with 2 kids at Banks Elementary came up with an idea of a 5K/10K race for raising much needed money for technology at Banks Elementary School. The inaugural race in June 2011 was very successful and is now a highly anticipated community event.

The past nine events have raised a total of $45,000 for the Banks Elementary technology fund.  Students and teachers have greatly appreciated the purchase of over head projectors(2011), tablets(2012), software updates(2013) and typing software(2014), a special typing software for kindergartners for state testing and additional tablets/cart(2015).  Additional I Pads for class rooms(2016).  Expansion of interactive platform in classrooms for students to create, share and design using technology(2017 and 2018), visitor check-in/safety system and audio/visual equipment for assemblies(2019).  The purchases have truly enhanced student learning.  With your support we look forward to the 2020 results!
